Bear Lake 2011

It's that time of year again. The Hanson family reunion in Bear Lake. We go every year in July, with the exception of last year, because it landed on the week that Miles was due. We were bummed to miss out, so this year we were super excited to go. We love it there!
Here are the highlights:
1. Owen slept awesome everynight. We brought the portable DVD player and turned on a show and within 10 minutes he was out. He also snores louder than his uncles and grandpa.
2. Owen is such a social butterfly. I know this sounds bad, but he didn't want to hang with Steve and I at the beach. He much more preferred Steve's cousins Ian, Breanne, Tess, Izzy, Aubrey, and Cece. They were all so doting and attentive, I don't blame him. Breanne watched Iron Man with Owen just about everynight on her computer. Ian took Owen on a Kayak ride. Izzy, Tess and Aubrey gave Owen loads of candy. (We packed NONE. Miracle right?) Owen literally made the rounds from canopy to canopy (there 80+ people, so lots of canopies) and was playing with everyone. It makes me happy that he is not shy.
3. I Kayaked for my first time and gave a try at paddleboarding. The kayak is way fun and I could see myself doing that more often. The paddleboarding was on a windsurfing board and on some really choppy water. It was tricky getting my balance.
4. Breakfast. This is my favorite part of Bear Lake. Bacon, eggs, hashbrowns. YUM!
5. Miles face planting into the air mattress because he was that tired. Our first night there was a little rough. His but was in the air and his legs were bent all funny. He was exhausted, poor guy.
6. Miles sleeping 10 hours the 2nd night we were there. Awesome. I layed him in the portacrip and he was out until 7:15 the next day. GLORIOUS!
7. Friendship bracelets. I saw an adorable tutorial on Dear Lizzy and decided that would be a fun easy craft for my nieces, and Owen, but lets be honest, he wasn't interested.
8. Steve took Owen and cousin Luke, who is just a little older than O for a ride on the wave runner. Owen had fun, but he said, "I wasn't fun on the runner." I think he thought it was too fast. He had lots of fun chasing Luke around Brian's yard.

Low Lights:
1. Miles refused to go to sleep the first night. He wasn't even fussy, he just was laughing, clapping, slap happy. Hard to be mad a an adorable happy baby, though. Finally, Steve took him in the car and just layed him in the carseat to sleep for 4 hours. Not awesome.
2. The day we got there we set up the tents first thing. While I watched the kids, Steve, his dad and mom spent 3 hours setting up 4 tents. When they were finally done, we went to dinner at Le Beau's. When we returned a storm had come by and collapsed 3 of the 4 tents and left a nice puddle on my air mattress. Nice. I looked at it and turned around and pretended not to even see it. I left Steve to deal. I just couldn't.
3. The WIND! Luckily, the nights were very calm and allowed us to sleep, but around 12 or so the wind would pick up everyday and IT WAS SO WINDY! Kind of annoying.
4. I dropped my phone on the cement and the face shattered. Great.

Thankfully the highlights outweighs the bad and we just love Bear Lake. Can't wait for next year!
