Neighborhood Playgroup

Some moms and kids in my neighborhood have been getting together about once a week for playdates. There are SO many boys in the neighborhood. In our playgroup there are 14 or more boys if everyone is there. That is a lot. But fun for Owen. One of the mom's is super organized AND used to teach preschool, so she has come up with a schedule and lots of fun activities.
This week we got together and had a little "cooking" lesson. They made snakes out of bisquick with whipped cream, strawberries, bananas, and m&m's. I enjoyed it. Then another mom had the boys help make slime. The batch didn't turn out, but the boys thought it was fun dumping glue in a bowl and mixing in the color.

For Valentine's day the boys each got a box and got to decorate it with stickers and markers. Then we sat in a circle and passed out Valentine's. I miss that about school. Owen was so excited to hand out his Iron Man valentines. He picked those out all on his own. I was trying to get him to pick toy story, but he wouldn't have it.

A couple of weeks ago someone brought a roll of butcher paper and we traced the kids' bodies and let them color and decorate it as desired. Owen colored the hair you see and glued on a few squares that he had cut out. He wasn't super interested, but I thought it was a really cute idea. Maybe when he's older he will be into it more.

It has been nice doing this. Owen gets to know the boys better each time we go and I get to know my neighbors better, too!
