Our trip started Thursday morning. Steve got off work early, we got the car all packed up, picked Owen up from pre-school and headed directly for the freeway. The drive to Las Vegas was not fantastic with Miles crying for a large part of the way, but that just comes with the territory. Our first destination was Las Vegas. We stayed at the Orleans, and just so you know, for 30.00 it is really nice, clean accommodations, although, not on the strip. Before meeting up with everybody for dinner, we decided to check out the strip a little. We ran into BUMBLEBEE. Owen thought it was pretty cool. He asked him, "Where is Optimus Prime?" and Bumblebee's reply, "Oh, he's at McDonalds." Ha! I love this business they have going. When we left, Owen assured me it wasn't really Bumblebee.
And we saw Woody, but only from a distance.
We met up with the family that was in Las Vegas (Brad, Amy and kids would be meeting us the next day) at Margaritaville, a Seare Family favorite. As much as I despise country music, I really like Margaritaville's atmosphere...always a party! Here is Connie, GG, Cyndee, and Miles.
At dinner the people on stilts came around and made balloon hats for Estee and Matt.
Owen got one too, plus a sword and laser gun!
Right when Jules and Estee left for the bathroom, some dude really wanted to take our picture. Here we all are: Matt, GG, Blake, Emily, Connie, Jeff, Scott, Cyndee, Steve, Owen, Miles and I.
After dinner we headed to Caesars Palace for one reason, really. H&M! It was a successful trip for kids clothes. The kids loved the aquarium.
That evening proved to be a challenge. I was not a wise mommy and didn't pack a blanket with a tag for our vacation, something newly discovered that is Miles' soothing tool. We improvised with a washcloth from the hotel room. Ha!
The next morning we met up at McDonald's for breakfast and headed back on the road, our next destination, Dana Point, California. Here is a little glimpse of how we traveled. It is amazing how 2 kids really add up to a lot of luggage. From here on out, Miles traveled much better. I think he was just so tired from lack of sleep in the hotel.
We took a pit stop in Barstow to check out the new outlets and we rented this beauty. It was cheap and convenient, being our car was packed to the brim, but it was very similar to driving an actual bus, at least in my mind. The boys loved it though!
We arrived to Dana Point, another Seare Family Favorite, and were sure excited to see the ocean. I love the ocean! We rested for a bit in our room, the boys loved playing on the balcony and Owen loved that across the way were Grandma and Gramps' room and GG's. We took a little walk around the harbor got a small lunch, then rested some more.
For dinner we met up with everyone for El Torito (another Seare Family Favorite) for some delish Mexican food.
After dinner, GG treated the whole family to ice cream from the "Poop Deck" as GG accidentally called it. We prefer the Scoop Deck. Avery, Estee, and Owen enjoying more ice cream than they could handle.
Saturday morning we got up and headed to Proud Mary's, yet ANOTHER Seare Family Favorite, for breakfast. The Utes were playing USC that day, so we were all decked out in our U gear.
After breakfast we ran into all of these ponies! There was some charity with all these ponies and they were all dressed so cutely and the kids loved it. This pony had a monkey riding on him.
And this one had an awesome braid and cool sneakers. Owen gave her a big hug.
After breakfast we headed to Carlsbad for some shopping and Part 2 of our vacation begins!
